Feeling somewhat stressed today. My last session at Bangor University completing a course in using Social Media to market my business.
This morning's task was to set up a Facebook Store using the ECWID application. I thought this would be a good opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone, and as Jan is prone to do, went at it like a bull in a china shop. I should definitely have concentrated on only one page at a time and familiarised myself with the elements of posting, pricing, description etc. instead of being 'clever' and setting up Natural Manna and my Craft page Pasticcio Handmade Originals.
NO! I am now paying the price by having to undo, try and delete the app from the world, which you may not know is not that easy when everything seems to be linked to everything else. This is scary.
I could have saved myself a huge amount of frustration, time and mental energy if I had only taken small sure steps instead of trying to do a Neil Armstrong. [You know, he was the one who took a 'GIANT' leap for mankind]
In a nutshell. Aren't we sometimes our own worst enemies and establish a self-fulfilled prophecy when we continue to behave in a way that contributes to our already stressed lives? We are told that we are stressed, we believe what we hear and our brains seem hard-wired to link that to some information that make us think that we SHOULD be stressed.
You know what? It is absolutely OK to take your time when attempting new things. Sometimes it is a good thing to make mistakes, as I did this morning, and you know what else - this too will pass. This feeling of exasperation, frustration and the feeling that as someone over 45 who is completely 'though not always comfortably] immersed in the digital world we live in - lowered confidence.
So I would urge readers of this blog - take a stress audit of your life and see which of the elements are causing you stress you can either eradicate or change your attitude to. By taking a pro-active, positive approach you can move into a much more stoic and pragmatic space - lengthen your life and prevent frown lines!
