If I had a £ for every time I have heard people over 45 say that they consider it too late to make improvements to their general health I would be a VERY rich Nutritionist.
The Message today is: IT IS NEVER, NEVER, EVER too late to make improvements to your health through dietary and other lifestyle interventions. Conversely, the earlier you start living with a healthful attitude, the better your health outcomes will be when you enter middle age and into senior living.
Before you all moan about this meaning that you won't be able to really enjoy yourselves at parties if you can't binge-drink, eat greasy party food, gorge on meals that contain a full 2-day's worth of food intake in one sitting and so on, my question is?
Why would you want to? My yardstick for enjoying an evening out or a party is being able to wake up the next morning and REMEMBERING the good time with a clear head, enjoying food that enjoys me and being in the company of friends who appreciate ME and not how loud I am or how much alcohol I can neck.
Yes, I am that boring individual. You know what - you don't like it - please don't invite me to your parties, that way I won't insult you by refusing your invitation, or being with the minority introverts there who feel extremely uncomfortable with the behaviours of your more extrovert guests.
I guess what I'm trying to say in a roundabout way is - this is our life - the Main Event - and life is too short to not reap as much benefit as possible from every day and WE are the ones who have the responsibility to do that.
Emotional health is as important, if not more important than physical health. I would encourage everyone to understand where they are in terms of introversion or extroversion and other intelligences. Once you understand what makes you tick you will be more aware of what your needs are, and what's more, if your family and friends have that awareness too, they will be more tolerant as individuals.
Enjoy the here and now - this is THE MAIN EVENT - our one and only shot at a happy, fulfilled life.
